Miss USA, Olivia Culpo, looked stunning and radiant as she won the coveted Miss Universe title for 2012. Miss Culpo chose a beautiful raspberry, velvet and muslin ball gown from Georges Hobeika's Fall-Winter 2012-13 couture collection to wear for the Evening Gown segment of the competition. This gown, hand-picked by Miss Culpo, meant a lot to the new Miss Universe as it was the dress she had her heart set on from the moment she saw it. Thanks to Alisha Crutchfield, Fashion Director of the Miss Universe Organization and personal stylist for Miss USA, Miss Culpo was introduced to the talent of Georges Hobeika and decided to step outside the pageant 'style' box wearing a dress that made a winning statement.
"We wanted Miss USA to stand out from the 88 Miss Universe competitors and to break the mold, so to speak, of the typical pageant evening gown look. I have always loved Georges Hobeika's creations and believed he was the designer who could dress Olivia to win," says Alisha Crutchfield.
Miss Culpo's crowning as Miss Universe 2012 is extremely significant, as it is has been 15 years since a Miss USA has won the prestigious competition.
